Understanding Global Supply Chain Risks
8

Description

The lack of visibility in a supply chain is a threat to any business…it can cause relatively small disruptions or extreme adverse events with catastrophic outcomes.

Supply Chain risk assesses the various sources of external threats to the commercial activity of the supply chain, including environmental, geopolitical, economic, and technological.

Course Overview

This course introduces a specific framework for understanding,  evaluating, managing, and controlling risk associated with the movement of goods and services along with a supply chain network. It incorporates a host of typical threats in specific industry sectors, such as corruption, cyber threats, currency fluctuations…as well as the mitigative and contingent actions adopted by SMEs and multinationals to reduce the impact on their business.

Business Lab

The business lab includes exercises, simulations, and case study that will allow you to apply the ideas shared in this course and develop the required skills in the following areas:

  • Make decisions for a 3PL about specific risk of supply chain partner(s)
  • Analyze both demand and supply shocks along the tiers of a supply chain network
  • Dealing with certainty and uncertainty in demand and supply
  • Create a contingent route for a globally sourced product
  • Develop/use ‘what if’ scenarios to see the effect on operational changes
  • Taming the ‘Bullwhip’
