Understanding Supply Chain Management
8

Description

Supply chains and value systems are synonymous. All operations are part of one or more supply chain(s). Every operation is positioned in a tier – upstream, midstream, or downstream…

An operations’ supply chain must be designed and configured to ensure there is an efficient use of its strategic capabilities. The objective is to satisfy and fulfill customers’ demands, as well as stay competitive. So, every chain must be managed by coordinating upstream inputs with the downstream outputs to the final customer/consumer – acquiring relevant information from source-and- a destination to achieve this enterprise.

This course introduces the following supply chain concepts – terminologies and activities of the components in a supply chain, definition/types of supply chains, factors that drive the design of supply chains, systems used in the operations of the supply chain, and processes used to improve supply chain performance.
