The business environment is forever changing, organizations develop a strategy so that they qualify to compete, win orders ahead of competitors and/or create value that attracts customers. The fascinating world of strategy is such that, what constitutes a winning strategy can be difficult to articulate because, in a number of successful cases, it is more an emergence rather than what was intended/planned.  So custodians of business find ways to understand their strategic position, identify and evaluate their choices so that they can implement a course of an action plan(s) that defines a goal and mission.

This course introduces the basic frameworks that can be used to make sense (as well as understand) an organization’s strategy. and how businesses. It covers techniques used for analyzing a business’ environment and identifying the structure of its industry/market, we will also explore frameworks that can be used to articulate both the current and dynamic capabilities of a business. The introduces generic strategies, strategic decision making, and strategy development
